Project Linus
Remember this post from last September? Yeah, that box of squares is still sitting in my craft room. It's actually worse than this. I crocheted even more squares and the box is overflowing! I have a ton of yarn just sitting and now that I can knit and crochet again, I think I'll put these squares together to make a few blankets. I found out that our local library is a Project Linus drop off location! I can also knit or crochet more blankets with the unused bins of yarn I have

Squirrel Down!
Updates from an injured squirrel - I hurt my elbow back in September and at first I thought I slept wrong. I'm old enough that sleep injuries are a thing. So I figured it would resolve in a few days but, if anything, it just got worse. I picked up a container of coffee creamer in the store and the jolt of pain in my arm caused me to drop it. The cap broke and thankfully I didn't make a huge mess. After that I got a brace to sleep in, thinking that would keep me from sleeping

Bit of this, bit of that
I have been a bit all over the place lately! First, my youngest and I got involved with our local library's friends group last spring. After being in the group for a few months, I talked them into letting me take over their instagram page. One of the librarians started a program called "Tech Time" and I went for a couple of sessions to learn more about how to use canva. I'd post the library's graphics and interspersed in with those, I started making some of my own. Here is on

Warm Up America - update
I have been knitting and crocheting squares for Warm Up America. Well, I started knitting a few squares and then I read on the WUA facebook page that joiners (people who join the squares to make blankets) prefer crocheting, so I switched back to that. I figure they are the experts and they probably have good reason for preferring crochet. Anyway, I have been making squares and throwing them in a big box. I bought more yarn and then I was also able to use some yarn that was ki

Crafting - Early Covid Era (2020-2023)
I was going to post just knitting and crochet projects from this time period, but in looking through my photos from March-May 2020, I can see more cross stitching and other crafting than knitting/crochet, especially in 2020. I got into cross stitch just before Covid started so I already had plenty of supplies. If you don't know a lot about Minecraft, this is my version of a pig from the game. I don't play Minecraft (it gives me motion-sickness) but my kids were obsessed at th

Wayback when - knitting and crochet (2012 - 2020)
My first stuffed critter that I ever knitted - a fish! My youngest still has it in their collection. My kids were into super bright colors back in 2014-2015. I made this hat for my oldest but the camera does not do it justice. It was a very bright neon yellow like the sort that could stop traffic. I know this was 2015 because my youngest was into ballet and I made them this little wrap sweater. Another mom asked about it and I was so proud to be able to say "I made that!". I

Wayback when - adventures in knitting and crochet, 2005-2012
My youngest volunteers at the library and last night I used that time to write, but then today I decided I don't like what I wrote. Too repetitive, probably boring. But it gave me another idea... let's look at some of my old work! This is the first iphone photo I have of my knitting - I have no recollection of these hats, or my kids wearing them, so I'm thinking I must have been knitting to donate them. Let's go further back in time when I didn't have an iphone and when I was

Some of my most recent work
This is my very first bag I ever made. It's a reversible pattern that I made with scrap fabric left over from making 100 Acts of Sewing dresses. It was only after I packed it with knitting supplies and was sitting at the library that I noticed the bottom seams don't quite line up. My kid wanted one too and they chose their fabrics. I think both the inner and outer fabrics are old tablecloths I got at a thrift store. The seams are a little better, but not quite perfect. It's l
