Squirrel Down!

Updates from an injured squirrel - I hurt my elbow back in September and at first I thought I slept wrong. I'm old enough that sleep injuries are a thing. So I figured it would resolve in a few days but, if anything, it just got worse. I picked up a container of coffee creamer in the store and the jolt of pain in my arm caused me to drop it. The cap broke and thankfully I didn't make a huge mess. After that I got a brace to sleep in, thinking that would keep me from sleeping with my arm at any weird angles.

Well, I tried that for a couple of weeks and it didn't help. I've been busy with life, a cat with cancer, and just doing all the things so I've been trying to ignore the worsening pain. Finally I decided to make an appointment earlier this month and the soonest I could find was end of January. But someone decided they didn't need their slot on Black Friday and I was able to snap it up.

Diagnosis: Tennis Elbow. I don't play tennis and the only repetitive motions I can think of are knitting and crochet. So I guess that means a forced break for a while, huh? I haven't been knitting or crocheting much for the past weeks/months since I've been focusing on the blanket (I wasn't using this arm much for that) but that means no holiday handmade gifts. Sadness. Thankfully I already made one gift months and months ago.

I suppose I'll have to work on other hobbies, like sewing, painting, and reading. I started a paint-by-number project over the summer and I'll pick up where I left off on that. I've been reading, which actually reminds me of a book I need to finish up for the library book club.

One of the things I've been reading about is how to start a nonprofit. My experience with our local Friends of the Library group got me pondering how non-profit organizations work, or how they should work to benefit the community. So I've been doing research, reading books, and actually considering getting a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management.

I may be injured but I am staying busy!

She loves sleeping in this chair by the window and I caught her mid-yawn.
