I'm honestly not sure where a whole month went, but here we are! After the cat cafe visit, we went to the beach. Let me share some photos...

We came back and you know all the stuff that you put off, plus everything that's waiting for you when you come back from a week away? Yeah, that. I had a whole long list things I told myself I'd do once I got back and then I had a ton of meetings too. We picked the bunny up from his boarding, which is an hour each way. He needed a nail trim, was overdue, actually. I needed to see the dermatologist. Youngest had a dentist visit. The gardens needed planting. Kids needed to do assignments, I had all the meetings, groceries, errands, house cleaning.
I remember when my kids were younger, I read that it takes twice the length of the vacation to get back into routine and I can vouch for the accuracy of that. It took a good two weeks, and honestly, I still have some errands that I haven't gotten to.
I blame cats. When Lulu left us, we knew we'd find another cat eventually. But we didn't want to adopt a kitty and immediately leave them for a week, even as nice as the boarding place is. So we've waited and now that we're back, we're seriously looking.
We went to look at Petsmart kitties. We've been back to the cat cafe. I'm in touch with a local rescue and we're still just looking for the right kitty.

I've been to this cat cafe twice now and I'm fascinated by the people that go there. Yes, I know I'm included this this group. We went to Petsmart and because we'd done our grocery shopping the previous night, we had all of Sunday free. So we made reservations online and headed to visit kitties. If you reserve online, you get an hour, but walk-ins get a half hour, so every 30 minutes there are people coming and going.
The group before us left, and we went in. This cat and at least one other were in panic mode at the change in people. The other visitors were going from cat to cat, trying to initiate play. My youngest and I sat on the floor to see who might come to us. That's how we met this kitty, who had hidden in the tunnel.
He came out, rubbed on both of us, showed us his belly, but he wasn't interested in playing. No play, only pets. And for the first half hour, that's pretty much what we did. Then a dad and his young daughter came in and he was back to hiding in that tunnel. She was simultaneously trying to play with every cat, but also scared of the cats. He didn't care for loud noises and the other cats, so he went back in the tunnel. We visited with all the cats, but came back to this one. While the girl was distracted, I sat between where her dad was sitting (on his phone, and where she kept coming back) and this cat. He was able to come back out, but the hour was up and it was time to say goodbye.
I've contacted the cat cafe and the rescue, because I'd like to know more about him. What's his story? But I haven't heard back. Do I go visit him again? I wonder if he would get along with a bunny.
Would it would be easier to introduce a kitten to the bunny? The rescue I've been chatting with has 2 kittens that are ready to adopt and two mama cats in foster with 6 week old kittens. Do I visit the animal shelter to see an orange kitten? His littermates were adopted yesterday and it's just him. Or, do I wait, get my stuff together for the next round of kittens? We need a new cat tree and litter box.
So many cats need homes and I'd like to take them all!
